New Year's Kangeiko - Sat., Jan. 30, 2010 Return to Rec Center - Tue., Feb. 2, 2010 We will be leaving Roswell North Elementary and returning to the Bill Johnson Community Activity Building beginning on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Sparring Class - Wed., Feb. 3 and Thu., Feb. 4, 2010 We will have sparring classes on Wednesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 4th, 2010. Please be sure to bring your mouthpiece and sparring gear. Jissen Karate Squad Workout - Sat., Feb. 6, 2010 The Team Atlanta Chapter of the JKS will hold a workout at 12:00PM at the Rec Center. Please note that this is an intense workout for people planning on fighting full-contact or semi-knockdown at our tournaments! Red Cross Clinic - Sat., Feb. 13, 2010 The Team Atlanta Booster Club will be putting on two clinics on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Rec Center. The first clinic will begin at 10:00AM and will cover Ippon Kumite 1 thru 5 and will be open to all current WYKKO members. This will be a 1 hour clinic. At 11:00AM the second clinic will begin. This will be a Self-Defense clinic and will be open to the general public. The cost for one or both of the clinics will be $10 per person. It is important to note that the Ippon Kumite clinic will be setting the Team Atlanta standard for how IK should be performed at testing. 50% of all proceeds go to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Haiti. Winter Camp - Fri., Feb. 26 and Sat., Feb. 27, 2010 The 2010 Winter Camp will be held in Pensacola, Florida. Black Belt testing will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 starting at 5:30pm Central Time. The camp will be held on Saturday., February 27, 2010. Mr. Garduque is planning something interesting for the day of the camp itself, and he needs everyone who is attending to help out! Don't miss your chance to be part of the 30th annual Yoshukai Karate Kangeiko! JKS Clinic - Sat., Mar. 20, 2010 The Team Atlanta Chapter of the Jissen Karate Squad will be hosting the first ever JKS membership clinic. This will be your opportunity to join the JKS and earn the right to wear a JKS shirt. Black Belts 16 years old and up may choose to participate in the Judging Seminar and learn how to judge semi-knockdown and full contact fighting. Kyu grade students (all ages) are invited to participate in the full contact fighting seminar. Different aspects of training will be discussed by Yoshukai's top fighters in the Men's Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight divisions. Parents are invited to participate in the Time Keeping/Score Keeping seminar. Cost of clinic includes a JKS member shirt made of moisture wicking material. The clinic will finish with a JKS qualification mini-tournament! Judging Clinic - $40 (includes shirt and judging package) Fighting Clinic - $40 (includes shirt) Time/Score Keeping - $35 (includes shirt) The clinic will begin at 10:00AM and run until 12:00PM with a 30 minute break for lunch. The mini-tournament will begin at 1:00PM. (You must participate in the tournament to receive your shirt!) New Dojo Shirts Available for Order Team Atlanta has a new dojo shirt. The shirt is made of a special moisture wicking material very similar to UnderArmor. They are royal blue (like the Japan Honbu Dojo t-shirts) and say "Team Atlanta Yoshukai". The shirts are $25 each. Deadline for ordering is January 28, 2010. Video Taping Class Due to Roswell Parks and Recreation Department regulations, video taping of class is strictly prohibited. If you would like video copies of forms or other class related materials, this must be approved by the Chief Instructor and must be done before/after class. WYKKO approved training DVDs are also available for purchase.
