Black Belt Presentation/SuperFights - Fri., July 25 and Sat., July 26, 2008 There will be a Black Belt Presentation and workout preceding the Superfights on Fri., July 25, 2008 in Oxford, AL. I encourage everyone to participate and attend the SuperFights tournament on Sat., July 26, 2008. Support the WYKKO and cheer for your fellow classmates as they compete in either Point-Sparring, Japanese Knockdown, or Japanese Full Contact Fighting. Black Belt Pre-Test - Sat., Aug 2, 2008 Any eligible 1st kyu Brown Belt student who wishes to test for Black Belt at the October 2008 testing will need to participate in the Black Belt Pre-test being held at the Rec Center beginning at 9:00am on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008. All current Black Belts are asked to attend to help with judging. Kyu Grade Testing - Sat., Aug 9, 2008 Any student eligible for Kyu Grade testing will need to pre-register for the test. For information about eligibility, please speak with Mr. Garduque. Testing will begin at 9:00am for Yellow belts and below. Blue Belts and up should report at 12:00pm. The testing fee is $35 (+$5 if changing belt colors). Boards can also be pre-ordered from the booster club for $3.00 each. If you don't pre-order your boards from the booster club, you may bring your own or pay $5.00 per board the day of testing (while supplies last). Sunshine Classic in Panama City, FL - Sat., Aug. 16, 2008 Come to Panama City, FL to compete in this open karate tournament. Test your skills against martial artists of different styles! This tournament will feature open hand forms, weapons forms, and point-sparring competition. After the tournament, we will have our Team Atlanta Miniature Golf Championship at the Pirate's Cove Minature Golf facility in Panama City. Do you have what it takes to represent Team Atlanta and the WYKKO in a karate competion? Do you have the skill to defeat the current Team Atlanta Minature Golf champion, Mr. Garduque? Start practicing and we'll see you at the tournament! Wall Scroll and Cabinet Hopefully, everyone has noticed the new cabinet outside the doors to our dojo. The wall scroll was a gift from Mrs. Katoh while I was in Japan. The caligraphy for the Yoshukai kanji was done by a nationally recognized caligrapher in Japan. The cabinet was handcrafted by one of our kyu grade students, Mr. Richard Glotzbach. Please take some time to appreciate the beauty of the scroll and the fine craftsmanship of the cabinet. Video Taping Class Due to Roswell Parks and Recreation Department regulations, video taping of class is strictly prohibited. If you would like video copies of forms or other class related materials, this must be approved by the Chief Instructor and must be done before/after class. WYKKO approved training DVDs are also available for purchase.
