WYKKO Black Belt Workout in April

posted Mar 5, 2019, 10:39 AM by Ray Nelson   [ updated Mar 7, 2019, 12:27 PM ]

Master Toyama and Master Culbreth invite all WYKKO black belts to participate in our upcoming Black Belt Workout on April 6, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CST) at the Dean Road Recreation Center in Auburn, Alabama. The day will begin with a Black Belt Presentation for those who tested at Winter Camp last month. All test takers and their friends and family members are encouraged to attend the presentation, and all black belts, including those who just received their belts, are strongly encouraged to attend the workout immediately following the presentation.

Receiving your black belt is just the beginning of your training. It is only after you have achieved the rank of shodan that you truly begin to train in martial arts and to develop the finesse and finely honed technique that characterizes the true martial artist. These black belt workouts - offered free of charge - are an invaluable opportunity to learn from the highest ranking martial artists in our style.

Most importantly, this is one of the ways that we ensure that all practitioners are teaching and practising our art in a way that is consistent with the teachings of Soke Yamamoto and Kaicho. Like a game of telephone, it is understandably easy for certain things to become muddled when transferred between different levels of instructors and ultimately to their students. This is our opportunity to come together as a community to ensure that we are practising our art to the highest degree, and we look forward to training with you all.
